Pyronix have released a wireless smoke detector that links up to the Enforcer wireless control panel.

Pyronix /Castle are expanding on their new Enforcer wireless intruder alarm panel and have now introduced a fire detector option into the range. This is another added feature makes it different from other wireless intruder alarms and yet another of benefit of an intruder alarm  that has taken the market place by storm mainly because the new panel features Bi-directional wireless. This specially designed benefit helps keep the number of wireless signals bouncing around the premises to a minimum. Add to this the fact that it will also help conserve battery life and we have a panel that is selling well.

The Pyronix Enforcer panel is a 32 way unit and has been actively competing  against Risco, who, until now have been the undisputed number 1 in this field of wireless technology. The Enforcer Uses euro mini programming already proven out in the field and is a favorite with engineers. The Pyronix enforcer comes with built in PSU and battery back up so no additional costs there. Probably though the feature that will increase sales further is the data bell box which is is also wireless however if the installation allows, the bell box can  be powered locally. If the need arises we can also have 2 zones that can be hardwired should any existing door contacts need to be re used .

The Pyronix Enforcer is generically a  grade 2 rated control panel under EN50131-1 directives and this means that it can be policed. This would normally be done via the integrated digicom. The remote to be either hardwired or radio and the range of the radio signals, although always subject to survey is expected to be at least 50m from the panels.

In order for this panel to be sold beyond the domestic market place for which it has been originally designed Pyronix have planned that they will try to get the wireless platform integrated into the euro 46 panel .

So we now have the wireless smoke detector to compliment the rest of the features and benefits already within the Pyronix enforcer wireless control panel. Another reason to buy this very competitively priced little panel.

Thermal CCTV is fast becoming the answer to many things. Using thermal imaging cameras, Fire fighters use it to save lives as do coastguards and mountain rescue teams. Drug growers live in constant fear of it and Police forces across the UK use it to track down thieves and criminals. We are now finding that Thermal CCTV to protect premises and boundaries in commercial situations is fast becoming affordable. The explosion in thermal CCTV sales however will be through the needs that will arise during the  2012 London Olympics. Perimeter protection will be crucial. Many of the events will be held in areas that will be difficult if not impossible to secure. As security advisers countrywide are now deep into into their security projects based on protecting events and arenas they have concluded that thermal CCTV is going to be an integral part of their plans.

Thermal CCTV
Thermal CCTV is here

Images generated from thermal CCTV cameras are not affected by the usual issues we associate with perimeter protection. Rain, fog, absence of light all become irrelevant and an intruder is easily picked out and dealt with. There really is no place to hide from thermal CCTV cameras if you are an unwanted intruder.

So what about the cost? Well this varies depending on the sort of distance and image clarity you seek. However, budget for anything between £3000 and £15,000 per camera and if you want analytics then you should budget at least a further £1000 per camera. Not cheap you may think but to be fair the effectiveness is worth the additional money but when you take into account fixed beams or sensors along a large perimeter then the costs start to balance out.

Thermal CCTV is also getting cheaper . Soon we expect that it will become the most commercially viable way of protecting your perimeter. So if you would like an idea of cost contact us and we can advise you.

Avigilon resellers are backed with unrivalled support from the company. We interviewed Rick Ramsey of Avigilon to find out why resellers should be so confident about their future and the IP surveillance systems they are selling.

HDCCTV allianceAs far back as 2003 commentators have been asking the question whether IP CCTV will be the domain of security installers or IT integrators. The question has dragged on and to their credit security installers have been fighting hard to maintain their market share of newly installed IP CCTV systems. The biggest problem they face is that the decision making process as to who decides to install an IP surveillance system has shifted very much into the hands of the IT director. This is because anything that runs on a company network almost always gets thrust into the hands of the IT department. They protect their network with a passion and will not let anyone touch it who does not have a prestigious background in IT . This has meant that security installers inexperienced in the ways of IP have been struggling to talk to the IT departments of big companies on their level. The result, the IT director would almost always prefer to talk to IT integrators and so the business slips away.

Now however we have HD SDI CCTV cameras and HD SDI DVR’s. This suddenly tips the scales back in the favour of the security installer. He suddenly finds that he can provide HD solutions with quality images to his customers and the technology is just simple plug and play.

The  most important factor though in this whole battle is the security installers database. This database is full of customers many naive to the benefits of IP CCTV or HD CCTV who already have analogue CCTV installed. So what is the security installer sales department going to sell when it comes to the time to upgrade? Well it seems obvious he will push the customer in the direction of HD CCTV . No IT departments to deal with , no laptops to provide , no software to worry about , no extra training.  Best of all HD images with no compression or latency. In the UK we have hundreds of thousands of CCTV systems in desperate need of upgrade and IP CCTV is quite simply not an option for the vast majority of these. HD CCTV is about to come of age and the market place is primed and ready for it .
