How can companies cut costs on external remote monitoring but still maintain a high or even higher level of security than they already have? The answer it seems may be to install thermal CCTV cameras. The increasing reduction in the price of thermal security equipment is meaning that installers and end-users are increasingly more  interested in protecting sites with thermal imaging cameras instead of deploying traditional CCTV cameras.

Thermal CCTV

The reasoning behind this shift is relatively simple. Thermal CCTV can cover far greater areas without the need for expensive lighting. The combination of the cost of installing this lighting together with the running costs associated with it over the lifetime of the security system means forward thinking installers can justify the cost of installing a more expensive thermal camera solution in the first instance.

Add to this the benefits that thermal cameras will operate in any weather conditions and in total darkness and will operate over far greater distance. Suddenly end users are starting to sit up and take notice.

With thermal security systems, false alarms are more or less a thing of the past. Objects become incredibly easy to identify on screen, either with the naked eye or with the use of advanced analytics.

The thermal solution is not of course of benefit for evidential purposes , however not many analogue CCTV systems are either. HD CCTV is the only way to tackle  the issue of identification.

So thermal CCTV is making in-roads into all areas of security now and as customers become ever more aware of the way thermal can help them, the price continues to fall. This is good news for all those involved with thermal CCTV.

HD CCTV is the new technology that lets you view true uncompressed HD CCTV over coax. The benefit of this is obvious. There are literally millions of CCTV systems currently in the UK that can be upgraded and enhanced with HD CCTV technology. HD SDI cameras and HD SDI DVR’s are simply added to an existing analogue CCTV system . All of a sudden we can see a tired old analogue system transformed to give HD images and recordings. The CCTV industry has been blighted over the years with poor cameras giving too wide images with inadequate resolution. Quite simply this means that whenever an incident occurs the end user is faced with recorded video that is next to useless. Now though this infrastructure investment does not have to be wasted. By using existing coax we simply upgrade the “ends” to give true HD quality to an existing analogue system. So to upgrade and enhance your existing CCTV system to HD CCTV cameras,  look no further than HD CCTV solutions  for the perfect picture .

The new Qvis HD SDI DVR and camera range will be on sale and available to buy here in the UK from May 2012.

The Qvis HD SDI DVR will have lots of juicy features as standard and these will include,

D1 imaging with 25fps recording on all channels.

H.264 compression this will enable the HD SDI DVR to reduce noise interference and in addition will include a de-interlacing feature.

The Qvis HD SDI DVR has intelligent recording technology, this is used to maximise the amount of data that can be held on the hard drive at any one time. With HD SDI the quality of the picture is second to none but the amount storage has to be well managed. Qvis have achieved this here with the Apollo unit.

To give even further flexibility the parameters on each camera can be individually configured. This enhances the use of the audio features and as a result the Qvis HD SDI DVR has lip-sync audio on all channels.

Advanced search facilities allows  motion to be detected across an entire field of view or sub- regions of this with multi channel playback and single step searching meaning all events are easy to find.

The Qvis HD SDI DVR also has all the usual remote access facilities you would expect. Access cam be achieved both from your PC or your mobile device.

This HD SDI DVR gets its powerful performance from a dual-core CPU and can support 8 SATA HDD’s up to 24 TB it also has a built in web-server.

We expect the Qvis HD SDI DVR to retail around the £1300 mark so it will be highly competitive. Qvis also offer  HD SDI cameras within their new range. These include:

The 2MP Qvis HD SDI vandal proof dome.

The 2.1 MP Qvis HD SDI P400 C/W 100 IR leds giving a range of 100M of IR lighting at night.

The 2.1MP Qvis CMOS HD SDI speed dome .

The 3.27 MP Qvis HD SDI mini PTZ

So a small but exciting range of HD SDI products from Qvis available from May this year.

IFSEC is now just around the corner. Over the next few days we will be reviewing who will be exhibiting, their product ranges and what  to look out for if you are attending the show this year. IFSEC 2012 will be introducing new technology zones  and some of the most interesting products to look out for this year will be HD CCTV solutions. HD IP , HD CCTV and HD-SDI CCTV and HD SDI camera products will be on display all emphasising the push towards HD CCTV as the preferred option of upgrade for end users. We have seen prices tumbling this year bringing all HD products into the realistic grasp of normal business out there. So this will be the year of the HD CCTV and  HD SDI cameras and recording solutions?

Any exhibitors who are at IFSEC 2012 and would like us to run a product review on this site are welcome to contact us. So the run up to the show begins and we will watch with interest to see who’s products and what technology comes out on top this year .

HD SDI CCTV, HD CCTV DVR, HD SDI DVR

The new Apollo HD SDI DVR has now been officially launched. This 4 channel HD SDI CCTV package is capable of producing high quality images at 1080P using existing coax as its transmission medium. This keeps the installation simple and infrastructure costs low at the same time as providing HD images without the need to go down the IP route.

Apollo HD SDI DVRFor more information the unit can be viewed at IFSEC this year in Hall 5 stand 5B40, but simply put, it is the Dahua badged HD SDI DVR that has been expected to be released for some time.

Features include iPhone and iPad connectivity, while a duel core CPU presents excellent recoding playback and network performance. PTZ dome control, easy back up via USB or DVD-RW and network download.

Importantly the Apollo HD SDI DVR can support up to 12TB and comes with a built in webserver.
