Not content with offering IP VMS solutions, March Networks announce the imminent arrival of their Hybrid 7532 DVR

Ok, so this isn’t new territory being trodden here – but, this unit comes from the March Canadian stable of High End DVR solutions – products that for years have been trusted by the North American Retail and Financial sectors in their thousands.

Offering up to 32 IP inputs or a blend of 16 IP and 16 regular analogue (or analog for our North American friends!), this integrates seamlessly with the VMS and Sitemanager platforms.

Who will use it? Well, consider this – if you have a legacy analogue system, you can either upgrade to IP cameras and forget your current kit (expensive) or you can add IP Encoders to each analogue camera to IP enable it (cheaper, but depends on how many analogue cameras you have) or you can use a Hybrid system – simply plug in existing analogue cameras, add new IP cameras if expanding, and replace broken analogue cameras in the future with IP !! Simples!!

Looks another good unit from the well known March Networks brand!

Xtralis V3100H.

Formerly Adpro, Xtralis have produced a new hybrid DVR that also excels when it comes to remote monitoring,
The V3100 is a hybrid unit that can handle both analogue and IP cameras. The Ip camera range they will integrate with is limited but Panasonic are keen to join forces with Xtralis and this will open up the market place considerably for them.

Save money.

With companies looking to save cost wherever possible the remote monitoring solution is meaning that expensive security guards can be replaced and alarms monitored and actioned by a central station. The V3100 comes in modular form so you are able to buy the solution that suits the site and this is easily expandable should requirements change.

Remote monitoring.

Remote monitoring is the way forward and with the V3100H providing excellent picture quality,  it is the central stations who have provided very positive feedback on the product.
If you are considering a remote monitoring solution that also requires a DVR that can supply excellent picture quality and search facilities then contact us for more information regarding this product.

We like megapixel IP cameras….. High quality images, excellent replay pictures, post-zoom functions

But have you tried setting them up!!???

These clever PIXC manufacturers invest thousands, probably millions, developing amazing technology, but we wonder if they ever ACTUALLY install them…..sure, we bet they test them extensively, but actually setting them up?

Take a 1080P mini dome with varifocal lens…..adjust the lens to the widest field of view….obviously it needs to be focused…… Ensure your fingers are no larger than a matchstick in order to reach the tiniest locking screw known to man located under the tightest plastic ring surrounding the camera module…….slowly turn (whilst stripping layer 1 of your fingers skin) until focus is achieved….no, back a bit, forward, no just missed it, back, yep that’s it, no wait, you breathed, a bit more yep, quick, lock it (cue small finger requirement again)

You see, we are amazed that, with all the amazing minds that sit around the table designing the most beautiful of megapixel IP cameras, that no-one had thought to have some form of electronic adjustment, even perhaps an auto or software adjustment……or just plain old decent access points !!!

Come on Manufacturers, give the installer the tools to install quickly and painlessly and this IP lark will soon catch on!!

Panasonic i-Pro smart HD.

Panasonic have recently unveiled a new division within its organization called PSNE or if you prefer the full version, Panasonic System Networks Europe. The new division formed in January of this year (2010) and is seen by many forward thinking in the CCTV industry as a very clever move.

Quite simply Panasonic have realized that CCTV as we know it today will look very different in the future. By recognising that the convergence of telecommunications, security and imaging products all needing to come under one portfolio, they have sent a message to the market place. They see  IP video systems integrating with various different edge devices including epos point of sale, industrial and medical cameras as well as home networking products as the way foward.

With this new focus on IP based technology they have produced some excellent network video cameras that are designed to suit just about every application. This has been named the i-Pro smartHD. This range of  IP cameras and monitoring systems means they can easily integrate older analogue products seamlessly with the new IP video based systems.

NVR’s within the new portfolio include the WJ-ND400, WJ-ND300A and the WJ-ND200 all the new equipment is of course ONVIF compliant.

Panasonic trail Axis now a very close second in the sale of IP Camera and ip video systems and see that although the market is still split 80% 20% heavily in favour of analogue camera solutions the trend towards network video systems is an irresistible force. This is now driving many CCTV camera manufacturers to look very closely at what Panasonic are able to achieve in this next year or two, especially as the CCTV market place is thought to be worth anything upwards of 350 million pounds this year.

With IT mangers now taking ownership of newly installed Network video systems the design of any IP video system needs to ensure that the ITC department is kept happy. Getting the IT manager on board as we all know is going to be half the battle when specifying IP surveillance systems however this is becoming easier, especially with Panasonic giving heavy behind the scenes support for its network of dealers.

To ensure Panasonic are able to get their message across to the general public they have invested heavily in the London 2012 Olympics so their famous catchphrase “ideas for life” will soon be ingrained in the thoughts of many installers and new customers who will inevitably start to migrate from analogue to IP camera solutions. Probably an awful lot sooner than they think!

The world is buzzing about anything that is related to Apple!

Queues form at the slightest hint of new iPhone stock landing in the stores

Around 2million iPads are sole EVERY SINGLE MONTH!!!

We love our Apple devices here at Integrated CCTV…..don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a sales pitch for Apple, they really don’t need it!!

But…..our industry is really slow in catching on to the Apple train….

Ask any decent DVR or IP provider and they will tell you ‘yes, our iPhone app is coming’….. Well so is Christmas!!!!

Now I am sure Apple don’t help with their Draconian app store red tape……but really, the SDK has been around for a while, surely the DVR bods can see the benefit in releasing software for the global leader in smart phones??

And let’s not forget Android……predicted to have a 17% share of the mobile OS by 2011…..up from under 5% last year!!!

We did stumble across a fantastic alternative though…… Live Cams HD in the app store for both the iphone and the ipad…… Barry Egerter has done a great job in creating a multi platform app that will talk to a variety of IP cameras and NVR devices……. and with an app that is so low cost and a device list that is constantly updated via an Internet connection to the Live Cams server, this offers a really great way to access your CCTV system…… Barry promises to add new devices, free of charge, in return for customers downloading his app……. a great way to ensure commercial success…… we’ll keep our eye on this one we think !!

what mobile platform would you prefer to view your CCTV? ! let us know
