CCTV .get it there!

Ship a load of kit to Australia – £450

That gets it there, but they don’t tell you that there is tax to pay if you are an individual….

oh, and get this, that £450 to ship? that gets it to the other end airport – if you want it delivered to the recipient’s door, that’s more

Rip off……..

Arecont extends panoramic range.

Arecont Vision have a new range of cameras. The 8 megapixel new generation SurroundVideo is a series of high definition cameras that can provide both 180 and 360 degree views from a static camera.

Arecont AV8365DN

Aimed at market looking to replace PTZ cameras the AV8185DN and AV8365 DN are IP66 rated. The polycarbonate dome eliminates the need for an external housing. Each housing contains four 2 megapixel sensors that are day/night enabled.

Using a clever two axis gimble each camera can be adjusted to give the optimum view and simple to align for easy set up.

The AV8365DN is able to provide 22 frames per second giving a total image of 6400 x 1200 pixels.

Arecont have looked for a niche here in order to replace the ever increasing numbers of PTZ cameras that have seen price drops recently making them ever more of a competitive option. By integrating 4 cameras into 1 housing and supplying high quality images this megapixel IP camera will attract some considerable interest.

Honeywell HREP range.

Honeywell has introduced the new HREP DVR series to its selection of CCTV products.

The HREP DVRS are embedded digital recorders and are economically priced in order to compete against the influx into the UK of cheap highly functional DVRs from the far east.

Classed as an entry level device the Honeywell HREP can be accessed via a web browser and uses H.264 video compression for easy fluid remote access.

Simple installation and set up via a USB mouse means the unit is childs play to navigate and requires the minimum of training to familiarize yourself with the functions available. This reduces time on site for installers and service engineers alike.

With no software to install and remote access via the web browser, Honeywell hope the HREP range will be a big hit with installers and customers in both domestic and business scenarios.

A bold move from Honeywell? well we will just have to wait and see.

Interesting fact – 93% of all tablet sales in 2010 were iPad

and the latest Windows Mobile Phone 7 update has had to be withdrawn due to crashing some handsets

Seems like Apple is marching onwards and upwards, the new iPad 2 is rumoured for March 2 release and the iPhone 5 scheduled for sometime Summer 2011………

CCTV iphone

We reported on the acceleration and importance of Apple recently and we also heard that companies such as 360 Vision are already rolling out actual Mac versions of their DVR software…..

And don’t dismiss Android………Google is stomping along like a proverbial PacMan, eating up the remnants of Nokia’s Symbian platform(Nokia now putting Symbian to grass and adopting Windows – that might be a mistake!) and also taking a slice of Apple’s market as well !!!

Keep an eye out this year for DVR apps for Blackberry, iPhone and Android – mobile access has never been easier!
